Josh James
Omniture
Web analytics software · Orem, Utah
The founder
Josh James co-founded the company in 1996 with John Pestana (originally as SuperStats in Provo, Utah), renaming it Omniture in 2002 and relocating to Orem. He took Omniture public in June 2006 and grew it into a leading web-analytics platform before selling to Adobe in 2009. James stayed on briefly as an Adobe SVP before leaving to found Domo, a business-intelligence software company, in 2010.
How it was sold
Adobe launched a tender offer at $21.50 per share in cash to acquire all outstanding Omniture stock, announced September 15, 2009, valuing the deal at approximately $1.8 billion on a fully diluted basis — Adobe’s largest acquisition at the time, aimed at adding web analytics to its digital marketing suite.
