Tan Min-Liang
Razer
Gaming hardware and peripherals brand · Singapore / Irvine, California
The founder
Tan Min-Liang, who holds law degrees from the National University of Singapore and practiced as an attorney before co-founding Razer with Robert Krakoff in 2005, became CEO in September 2006 and built the company into a globally recognized gaming hardware brand.
How it was taken public
Razer listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on November 13, 2017, raising roughly $500 million (reported variously as HK$3.9 billion, or up to $528 million gross) in an offering backed by billionaire Li Ka-shing and oversubscribed roughly 290 times — shares jumped as much as 40% on debut, valuing Tan’s stake at around $1.6 billion. (Razer later delisted from the exchange and went private in 2023, a separate later event.)
