The founder
Oleg Tscheltzoff co-founded Fotolia in 2004, having previously co-founded French internet hosting company Amen, which sold to VIA NET.WORKS. As president, he grew Fotolia into the world’s largest microstock photography platform, available in 10 languages, before its sale to Adobe. He has since been an active angel investor with 30+ investments across the US and Europe.
How it was sold
Adobe acquired Fotolia for $800 million in cash, announced December 11, 2014, to bolt a stock-content marketplace directly into Creative Cloud — letting designers license images without leaving Photoshop or InDesign. The deal became the foundation of what is now Adobe Stock.
